Chris Slater, Founder & CEO, Oka, The Carbon Insurance Company was part of the panel for a webinar hosted by Cleantech Group’s Holly Stower. Additional panelists included Jared Concannon, Head of Technology and Climate Tech, Chubb Overseas General at Chubb.

The webinar covers increasing synergy between cleantech and the insurance sector:

• Insurance products reduce the risks of new technologies
• Insurers collaborate to reduce the risks of climate change
• Insurance companies are seizing opportunities to invest in climate companies via CVCs and accelerator programs

Insurers, however, must rapidly change their operational practices to adapt to increasing climate risks and be positioned to capitalize on cleantech opportunities. Whilst many are adopting proactive underwriting approaches, creating cleantech teams, and partnering with innovators, there is an overall lack of awareness and education of what’s possible.
